Today should have been departure day, until our van had a little mishap on Wednesday! Whilst sharply pulling over in a car park to, ‘express his displeasure’ to a gentleman who pulled into a parking bay as Paul was reversing in into it; pink power steering fluid gushed onto the tarmac!
Long story short, the van needs a piece of tubing that has to come from Amsterdam and will take up to 4 working days ?.
I was pleasantly surprised that our non refundable ferry tickets could be easily amended for a £20 fee. We are now booked on the Thursday am ferry, with the option to re amend it if necessary. Let’s hope we not in complete lockdown by Thursday like a 3rd of the uk is already.
Blessing in disguise
To keep positive lets look at the plus sides
- The split in the hose could have happened halfway up a mountain on a tight switchback, or on a remote beach miles from anywhere.
- Storm Alex is swirling around the Atlantic, I had persuaded Paul that we should go by ferry, as I ‘fancied a change’ from the tunnel and the laborious drive to Folkestone. Paul gets sea sick! I said ‘how bad could it be’! Hmmm here’s hoping for better weather on Thursday, finger crossed please.
